I want to use my PoE switch to power my Mikrotik device but not sure if Im doing something wrong.
My switch is a EtherWAN EX17162.
The EX17162 PoE output is 48 volts.
Mikrotik’s PoE input is 24 volts.
Devices that say PoE 802.af output at 48 volts and up to 15 watts.
Devices that say PoE 802.at output at 48 volts and up to 30 watts.
Devices that say PoE but don’t mention 802.3 are usually something else, whatever the mfg decided to make it.
Some devices say PoE 802.af and 24v passive. That means it’s default is 48v, but you can go into the config of the switch and change the voltage output of the ports to 24 volts.
Passive means the ports always output power regardless if the connected device wants power or not.
Active means the swtich will check if a connected power wants power, and if not will turn off the power to the port.
It’s possible your switch is finding that the Mikrotik doesn’t want the full 48v and thus doesn’t send any power at all to prevent burning it out.

This little device will step-down your voltage via a little dial to 24v.
You have to wire into your cable though..
