powering Mikrotik mAP

is this possible?

anybody? pls reply

It could work, but you would have to test. To calculate it is too difficult, many variables. Even cables will affect result.

Use a decent cable. Also you may need a higher volt/amp power pack. In general the more devices you have the more amp you need and the longer the cables the higher the starting voltage required to compensate for the voltage drop due to cable resistance.

Buy r2 as the first revision hardware had some POE issues if I recall.

Great until mAP number 2 fails and takes down 3,4,5.

Good point and that’s exactly what happened to us three times within 6 months.

The map itself did not fail it kept running, it just wasn’t powering up the next device anymore. Very strange.

We replaced with R2 now, hopefully that’s cured it.

what is r2 sir? sorry newbie here.

r2 > revision 2

The PoE on Ether2 outputs approximately 2V below input voltage, and supports up to 0.5A
Max power consumption without PoE - 4W;
You can do math from here…

i have a mikrotik metal 2shpn. it restarts automatically and in the log file it shows unknown error. can anyone help me to diagnose the possible reason and solutions if any
