Powering NETMetal AX using 7S batteries

Hi there,

We have a portable gateway that is powered using 7s lithium batteries. The nominal voltage for these is around 26V which is safe for powering the NETMetal over POE, however when the batteries are fully charged, the voltage can increase up to 29.4 V.

Is it safe to (temporarilly) run the Net Metal with 29.4V? What is the absolute maximum voltage that the system can take?

https://mikrotik.com/product/RB922UAGS-5HPacD-NM#product_specification which gives

Powering
Number of DC inputs 1 (PoE-IN)
Max power consumption 19 W
PoE in Passive PoE
Cooling type Passive
PoE in input Voltage 8-30 V

So I would use my judgement

I would say 30V  and 30V>29.4 :slightly_smiling_face:.

Don't worry, there's also the voltage drop to consider...
