So I just got my new Netmetal 5 in and I really want to boot it up and poke around only my mANT hasn’t arrived as yet.
How risky is it to boot my device without an Antenna?

As far the radio stays off it is risk free.
But I think the radios turn on by default at boot time… I guess the answer to my question is “It’s risky”.
Here’s my new question, what if I connect some simple antennas? Is there a such thing as “too small of an antenna” for this unit?
I saw the wlans to be off when powered new mikrotik devices for the first time on. Mostly. Better to connect small antennas then nothing before you boot up.
What’s at risk? What exactly happens?
Powering on the transmitter with no antenna attached may damage the final output stage of the transmitter. The end result would be little to no transmit power.
