another update:
Just tried 3.0RC11 with a relatively small amount of PPPoE users (about 250), on a brand new server, and no PPP secret entries.
It went straight to 100%, PPPoE locked up just like 2.9. If anything, it seems even worse. Lockup happened as soon as all the users tried to connect at the same time.
Any ideas other than switching to a different PPPoE solution?
