PPPoE and Radius Server

We currently use the radius server built into Mikrotik for our PPPoE users. It works fine for our needs. We use remote logging to send logs to a remote linux box for abuse issues.

Thinking of moving to a regular radius server like we use for dialup. Question is how do you apply profiles to users via radius? We have various classes of service for various users. Like home user lite 64/256 and several other home user classes. We also have a few business classes. In addition on home classes we block incoming port 80 and 25 and we do not on business.

Has anyone made the profiles work with radius and if so how?

Matt

hmmm… you can simply distribute IPs from different subnets (via IP Pools) depending on user’s billing info

There is not separate attribute for PPP profile.
However, you may use the previous post suggestion.

Is there an attribute to set upload and download speed with radius but leave profiles out of it then?

Matt

Mikrotik-Rate-Limit
Datarate limitation for clients. Format is: rx-rate[/tx-rate] [rx-burst-rate[/tx-burst-rate] [rx-burst-threshold[/tx-burst-threshold] [rx-burst-time[/tx-burst-time] [priority] [rx-rate-min[/tx-rate-min]]]]

Dynamic queue is created for each user, it is equal to ‘rate-limit’ in ‘ppp profile’.
