PPPoE - client can't connect via bridge

Hi Everyone,

I just set up my MT today, which acts as an access point, and bridges eth1 and wlan1 to forward PPPoE packets between clients and the server.

When I try connecting to the PPPoE with my laptop’s wireless card, it works perfectly, so I assume the bridging has been done correctly (was quite easy…).

But, when I use my new 5 Ghz bridge, the AC8-4 (some taiwanese stuff with Linux on it), it won’t work… every packet goes through the device, no matter what I want to ping, but PPPoE (built-in client of my WinXP) simply can’t connect…

The setup looks like this:

PPPoE server ------(UTP cable)----- MT ----(5 Ghz link)----AC8-4---- (UTP cable)---- LAPTOP

So in this case, PPPoE (discovery) packets won’t pass through either MT, or AC8-4.
If the problem is the AC8-4 bridge, can somebody explain me briefly how to bridge the device’s two interfaces, just like under MT? The device runs standard linux, I saw the commands “ifconfig”, “ip route” and such are available…

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It’s possible the AP doesn’t forward PPPoE through the bridge. Saw it many times before. Try a different AP, it’ll more than likely work.

Chris

The AP does not forward PPPoE packets, for sure.
I had the same situation with stupid Tellus A14 AP. It has an option, called “IP Filter” and if it is enabled, it passes only IP traffic. I can ping, etc, but no PPPoE. Turning this off solves the problem.
Baxide, look carefuly, is on your AP some similar “clever feature” enabled?
