PPPoE Client does not answer to PADO frame

Hi Gents,

I am newbie to RouterBoards and RouterOS.
I have just bought an RB2011. I would like to use it as a DSLRouter but it doesn’t answer with PADR to PADO frame from the AS.
FW version is 5.20.

PPPoE Client config:

[thegod@LocalGW] > /interface pppoe-client print
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
 0    name="pppoe-out1" max-mtu=1480 max-mru=1480 mrru=disabled
      interface=ether1-gateway user="USERNAME@ISP" password="PASSWORD"
      profile=default service-name="" ac-name="adsl" add-default-route=yes
      dial-on-demand=no use-peer-dns=yes allow=pap
[thegod@LocalGW] >

There is nothing useful in the log.

I have tried to check the traffic between the RB2011 and the DSL Modem therefore I configured a mirror port on RB2011.

[thegod@LocalGW] > /interface ethernet switch print                             Flags: I - invalid
 #   NAME     TYPE         MIRROR-SOURCE     MIRROR-TARGET     SWITCH-ALL-PORTS
 0   switch1  Atheros-8327 ether1-gateway    ether3
 1   switch2  Atheros-8227 none              none
[thegod@LocalGW] >

Proper PADI and PADO frames are visible in the traffic but no PADR. :frowning:

I have tried to sniff the traffic by an ethernet hub but the result was the same.

Has anyone met with similar problem?

Thanks in andvance for your help!

Is this one of those real small Motorola DSL modems? If so, there is a known bug with those modems that doesn’t allow Bridge Mode or PPPoE Passthrough to work properly. This is a problem with certain Motorola DSL modems, NOT with Mikrotik.

You can google for it and find lots of information (but no solutions).

If that is NOT the case, then make sure your DSL modem is in PPPoE passthru or Bridge Mode.

The Mikrotik definately works with PADO/PADR frames. I use it that way myself.

If it doesn’t work, it is the fault of the modem, not the router.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion, but I have D-Link DSL modem.

I have contacted the reseller and I got the hint to use the QuickSet interface to Initial Configuration.
After a /system reset-configuration I could configure the pppoe-client properly through QuickSet but I had to redefine the interface to be used by pppoe-client because sfp-gateway was defined as interface to be used by QuickSet instead of ether1-gateway.

Best Regards,
