Hi Everybody,
Using a Draytek 120 Annex A Modem works fine with PPPoE connection is set up on Laptop, but NOT when using a RB433AH with PPPoE Client configured.
When RB433AH is controling PPPoE client, only a very few websites will load, streaming is possible from some sites but not others. I.E. Microsoft Windows Update will not load and Grisoft AVG will not update !
I’ve tried playing around with MTU’s but it doesn’t seem to affect the PPPoE client connection.
Any suggestions/help is much appreciated
Everybody have a Happy Christmas and a Prosporous New Year !
Best regards,
Jens
Hi Jens,
I have hundreds of Draytek DV120’s deployed with Mikrotik RB’s. Usually RB600’s or RB750’s.
There is one known issue with the Draytek DV120’s, that is that the original power supplies included by Draytek did not supply enough current for the modem to sync and be stable on ADSL2 connections. Make sure the power supply you are using supplies 1amp at 9volts or 500ma at 12volts.
If it doesn’t, complain to your supplier as it is a known issue and Draytek replaced all our PSU’s free of charge.
Hello Mate,
Sounds like it is worth a try, but I’m still a bit puzzled why it works perfectly with a Laptop set up as PPPoE !
Will try to get hold of another power supply and try it out.
Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Best regards,
Jens
Hi nz_monkey,
I’ve now tried with the original powersupply (14.9V & 500ma) and a variable powersupply (9V & 1000ma) still same result, a lot of pages loads immediately but just as many doesn’t load when I’ve got the PPPoE client set up on the RB433AH (Ros ver 4.4).
Still, if I set up the PPPoE connection directly on the laptop (without the RB433AH in between) it works perfectly.
Have you by any chance a configuration backup of a RB433AH you could send to me, maybe I’ve got an error somewhere in the RB configuration ?
Best regards,
Jens
Hi Jens,
I have not done anything special, simply entered a username and password into a PPPoE client connection on RouterOS
e.g.
/interface pppoe-client
add ac-name="" add-default-route=yes allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2 comment=\
"" dial-on-demand=no disabled=no interface=ether3 max-mru=1480 max-mtu=\
1480 mrru=disabled name=pppoe-out1 password=xxxxxxx profile=default \
service-name="" use-peer-dns=no user=xxxxx@isp.co.nz
