PPPOE-Client per Ethenet port

Hi Guys,

Can anybody help us to control the Ethernet ports on a RB1100 via pppoe-client ( radius manager)

What we need is to monitor the usage and control the clients.

We have a 400 user installation using fiber network,

We would like to manage the clients via a radius manager or some system.

Thank you

E Coetzee

There is manny system, doing this. Eg, try the user manager from mikrotik.

We have build our own system to handle this.

Hi,

Do you have an English page for this?

E

Sorry. system just in Norwegian, and just Norwegian Pages. But, im working on an English translation nowdays… maybe in 2-3 weeks.

just got mfm approvment for the system.

Thanks,

I will wait and see.

Will the system configure the mikrotik or how will this operate?
E

Its fully automated. Producing configs to parse into blank units.

TO clients, it has a step1 step2 config. Step 1 is a basic configuration, giving access to the system, when you are at customer. step 2 is customer spesific, like username, password, name etc.

To AP units, its making a bounch of settings to the units, so that its ready to deliver internett acces to CPE’s. Its naming device, give it IP (troug pppoe) user pass etc. ITs to complex to describe in detail here.

all info stored in a database. And a radius server, reading info.

Its also a lot of link planning , etc build into system. System is build between GPS on a location, and the basic of naming interfaces, after its location.

EG.:

Interface 1 at Radio2 in tower 3 will be named 10.3.2.1, (actually .33, that is the first interface. .1 is bridge) and customer connected to this interface gets its .34 .35 .36 .37 .38 etc. That is used as a base for username and password, to pppoe, and is the customer id.

Its also a lot of settings to wireless interface, snmp, radius, etc etc etc etc from system. Complex firewall and bridge filter to AP units.

The old english complete description:

VikenAdmin is a tool designed specifically for managing wireless broadband networks.

Overview
VikenAdmin is specifically designed to avoid repetitive errors during both the development and operation phase. The system automates and unifies the workflow between customers, engineers, support staff, and suppliers to ensure that work processes and relevant information are logged and documented.

VikenAdmin provides the ability to manage processes like service, monitoring, customer service (and even self-service), billing, SLA statistics, equipment overview, resource planning, troubleshooting, and service intervals. This substantially improves predictability.

VikenAdmin is specially designed for Viken’s equipment, but can also adapt to other types of equipment, if needed.

Customers can gain significant savings by improving the predictability of the wireless deployment, using VikenAdmin.

Internal training of operating and service personnel is significantly easier using VikenAdmin as a management platform; the same applies when scaling up existing operations.

Administration

Administration and reporting module
■ Workload management
■ Quality check of work performed

Operating module
■ Uses standard configuration methods on the different types of equipment and their applications
■ Provides statistics based on several types of limits and monitoring methods
■ Complete monitoring of sources of error in both client equipment and infrastructure
■ Automated messaging to end-users and alarm system for the operators via SMS
■ Logging of the equipment’s historical data

Support module
■ Can directly handle support for end-users or on behalf of partners.
■ Automated messaging to end-users and alarm system for the operators via SMS
■ Troubleshooting tool
■ Fault correction tools
■ Overview screen showing any major flaws in the network
■ Customer and equipment logging

Deployment module
■ Order management’s incoming tasks and deployments
■ Confirm date, time, and status
■ Dynamic Error Management

Invoice module
■ Handling invoice documentation, contracts and billing services

Thanks sounds good.

Will it run on Linux?

Can it have a ipc/ semaphore or some interface that we can adjust it via our billing platform?

E

Today its running on several machines. Its as a standard a “cloud” service. Possible to adapt to remote innstallation, but its a HUGE job to install. (it has been done about 5-6 times.)

Its running on several Servers. Its based on freebsd, with a freeradius, a postgreesql and a apache - tomcat + services (like dns, mail etc). Our setup is based on blade servers, with postgresql running directly on its own hardware outside the cluster. All, exept domain controller and postgreesql is running viritually on vmware, in a cluster with our blades. Its DNS, mail, radius, apache, etc etc etc. Postgreesql is 2 physical machines, clustered. If using system. its also needed to have an mikrotik unit, acting as an l2tp terminator. (all AP unit, is managed by l2tp tunnels, and is polled (snmp) and accesed by winbox by the system (and user) trough tunnels)

Its no “installation” packages, and it have to be installed manualy.

Integrate with other system is easy. Just to “get data” out and in from the postgreesql database, witch in fackt is the heart of the system.

Sounds very good

Thanks

Any news on this product?

Still been translated into english. If you manage to use in norwegian, its already in use, by about 10 ISP’s and about 6500 units.

Hope the product is translated to english sometimes this year.

OK,

Is it possible we can assist?
