PPPoE create multiple session, that can not be removed

I have a problem that maybe some has the answer. I am using an RB532 with version 2.9.10 of the OS.

I have it setup for PPPoE, and I have about 40 customers connected to it. The router works find until I add Rate-Limit attibute to the 40 customers. the router becomes unstable, and stops responding to the customers. The customers routers start to inisiate a new PPPoE session with my router and so I have dobble session per customers.

If I use WinBox and go to ppp/active I see customer in there twice but only one of each of the connections has Tx Rate, Rx Rate, Tx Packet Rate, and Rx Packet Rate. The original connection has these files blanck. So I select then and remove them. The Win Box Interface shows me the new list of customer without the dubble entries. BUT if I close and reopen WinBox they dobble customers are still there.

So My questions:

  1. Is there a know bug with winbox and/or the routerOS that does not allow the removal of dobble connection.
  2. Is there another way to remove these dead connection without rebooting? (I allready tried via TELNET)
  3. Why is it that the Rate-Limit brings down my router with only 40 customers.
  4. Can the Routerboard 532 handle 40 PPPoE and Rate-Limit?

Thanks in advase to anyone that can help me with these problems.

Has anyone tried to put 40 to 50 PPPoE sessions on a RB532 with Rate-Limits?

i wouldnt go so far as to put anywhere above 8 on the same hardware.

Hello Carlo
We have tested configuration with 40 PPPOE connections and rate-limit with RouterOS 2.9.11 and didn’t discover any problems you described. Try to upgrade RouterOS to ver 2.9.11 that is already available on http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html#v2. If you still have the same problems send us an sup-output file.

What Hardware would you use?

I have upgraded to 2.9.11 and the problem persists. I must have some configuration problems, I will send you th sup-output file for your review.
One other thing the Rate Limit line in my radius for most of the customers is: Rate-Limit =“128K/256K 512K/512K 256K/256K 7/10”

Thanks

A P3 would do, Pentium M will also do.
But those cost much compared to instead getting 3-4 RB’s and having redundancy as well.

I got this working, the problem was a bug, that was quickly fixed by mikrotik. I believe the fix is now in the 2.9.12 release.

Thanks to all that helped.
