I just recently got into installing RouterOS v5.0 as a VM inside vmware esxi4.1u1 . Everything is fine but my pppoe connection disconnects every 7 to 8 minutes . Upon further observation, it shows that the ISP that I am connecting to requires the client to send out a LCP/LQR in 30 seconds interval in order to keep the connection alive. Are there any options under RouterOS that I can do to cater for this configuration ? ![]()

anyone ?

What is your picture showing? A config page for another router?
I know there are keep-alive settings in the pppoe profile limits tab, ppp-profiles. That may help you.
yes its from another router.. just showing it because the ISP wants me to have this option enabled ![]()
Yeah i think thats the keepalive timer in the pppoe profiles there. its blank by default.
ok thanks for the heads up
i’ll try and see if it helps
That setting in your screenshot is not what you are looking for. That is for “connect on demand”.
I have never had an issue with ROS disconnecting on various types of PPPOE connections.
Goto system → Logging → “+” pick pppoe and action memory. You should see that magic packet you are looking for.
08:40:37 pppoe,ppp,debug,packet <magic 0x5b1d8fe8>
08:40:37 pppoe,ppp,debug,packet DSL-OUT: sent LCP EchoRep id=0x5a
08:40:37 pppoe,ppp,debug,packet <magic 0x4c998846>
I am not sure if there is a way to change the interval, as I never have need to.
Yes the magic packet shows everytime before the connection drops .. What should we be looking at instead of the keep alive intervals ? Thanks for the highlight btw
