I’m new to the community as i’ve never had any issues with my hAP AC for 8 years now. I am using it as my main router and wireless access point and have been so with the same ISP for the entirety of its life. I have a synchronous plan of 1Gbps and i regularly saw speeds in the 900s for both download and upload. Recently i’ve done a speedtest and i’ve seen that the download speeds are not going over 300 down / 250 up. Doing troubleshooting i’ve narrowed it down to it being the router as dialing up the pppoe connection directly from a computer saw no decrease in speeds for 48 hours.
Additionally, if shut and then no shut the PPPoE interface then it all returns to normal, seeing 900/900 mbps speeds while gradually decreasing back to the 300/250 mbps in a matter of hours (usually under 24 hrs)
I’ve thought it might be fragmentation but my PPPoE MTU is negociated at maximum 1480 with Bridge MTUs being 1500 and L2 MTUs being set at 1536. I also use VLAN tagged traffic so there’s that extra header to count for. In any case, i don’t think fragmentation is the issue anymore and the matter is very strange.
Anyone here care to help me with some advice?
