I have several PPPoE connected via LAN. No wireless at all. About 1-2 x per week I get a call from one of them that their service is down. I look at the interface list and always see pppoe-0 connected along with all the normal connections like pppoe-customername. I kick the pppoe-0 and it reconnects correctly as pppoe-customername2.
This is in the log at about the time they arrive at work.

The most common client is Linksys BSSF8r but the same thing happens on a couple MT clients.
Does anybody have any ideas as to the cause of this behavior?
what are you using to manager users account?
by Users Manager or by adding users manually in the PPP secrets list?
because it seems something related to authentication policy where there MT can not establish new PPPOE for the same user name till the previous session closed, or some one else using your client account.
I has similar problems before, pppoe client will even get disconnected randomly.
I changed the ether card and all is well,
mtu=1480 on pppoe-server.
You may set ether speed to 10Mbps also.
