PPPoe interface limitations

Hi there,

We are in the process of taking over a development of 800 people, and now we would like to put in a PPPoe server on Mikrotik. Initially I considered the 450G, but I wasn’t sure if this will do, I know we will need a level 6 licence, but will the hardware handle so many connections? or should we consider the RB1000? or a actual PC.

We will also be doing Accounting on the board, with natting.

I’d get an RB1000 so you have some room to grow. $700 for 800 people is less than $1/customer.

I’m in the same position, we are revisiting our network with 1000 subscribers and want to integrate mikrotik PPPoE. I’d be interested to know which direction you take.
