PPPoE, need clarification

I’ve set pppoe and clinte can connect using it. there is noproblem connecting to the internet.

But, I also want to allow clinets to connect each other since main goal of this network are local connections (direct chat, playing games etc..). It seems pppoe clients cannot even ping each other.

I have no specific setup to block such connections but it is still blocked.

Also, I noticed that when client connects using ppoe his connection is limited to 1mbps. I do not want speed limitation, at least not for local network connections. How to turn this limitation off?

I use pppoe to give (restrict) my clients access to internet. While reading your post I tried to ping some of them and I got strange result, some can be pinged some don’t. I think that generally I should be able to ping all of them, but some clients are using XP SP2 that firewalls every connection and block outside ping by default. Maybe SP2 is problem? In addition to this you are from Serbia, where people MUST have newest software regardless the fact that most of them are on the Office Level of computer knowledge.

It is strange that client have 1Mbit/s limit. Maybe MT`s default limit is 1Mb/s for PPPoE ? I would try making a new profile with limit set on 102400 bit/s or whatever is your maximum speed is.

I am still testing pppoe so all settings are done on controlled computers. There is no unknown software or firewall. Users are now connected directy, without pppoe and routing works fine with that connection. If I replace LAN connection with pppoe, that computer is unable to ping anyone else.

I actualy expected that, since each pppoe client is assigned with ip/32, but I expected that will prevent users to be able to connect each other directly, but allow them to connect through router.

I am thinking now… If PPPoE stand for Point-To-Point-Protocol-Over-Ethernet how was I able to ping anyone besides PPPoE server?
Should MT make new connection for each PPPoE user ?
