pppoe+queues+loosed bandwidth

Hi

I had few mikrotik’s on my network, they are used as a pppoe concentrators, i’m using for limiting bandwidth simple queues ( it were setted by me staticly ), the queues are based on - interface=all, and ip’s, everything worked super, but few times I had situation that I’ve seen that user was using internet ( i’ve saw it on ppp → active connection ), but no bandwidth where grabt by simple queues, then change ip of user ( in the ppp profile ), remove user, sometimes create new queue ( not just reenter the new ip ), and then it catches it. I want to change it - but how, maybe I should totally change the queues ( maybe to queue tree … i’ve got there prioritezation of services … but … ok, I’ll manage :wink: ) maybe bandwidth managing with pppoe should look some other way ( like dynamic queues … but It still goes to simple queues ).

Hi ;
at the beginning i used pppoe to prevent users from using net cut , but the bandwidth control was another issue .
if you set a limit to a pppoe user and he was active and you need to change the limits for him you have to kick him out and then log again to follow the new settings because all the queues are dynamic .
so instead of that i cancelled the dhcp-server for the pppoe and instead of that i made a pool of only one ip and use this pool for a single user and define another pool for another client and so on .
in that way i have the pppoe ip for each client , so i make a static simple queue rule for each one based on the ip .
i hope this will help you and others .
but the way , i hate pppoe and hotspot .
with best regards .

you know, used the same tactic, static ip’s per client, and simple queues, BUT I don’t know why, it doesn’t catch some users bandwidth. They can download/upload withouth any limit, I have MT 4.16 on RB433, maybe I’ll try it on 3.30 … I don’t know

nope, on simple queues It don’t want to catch few customers, I have static pppoe devices, I have everything set via ip, and few clients that I have to make different queue to catch them ;(
