PPPoE, Radius and "Accounting" problem

Hi all,

I’m using PPPoE with a freeradius server to control the customer speeds and assign IP addresses. I also like that RouterOS will send back radius “accounting” data to the freeradius server so that we can see customer usage.

I have a problem though: Sometimes the PPPoE concentrator routerboard stops sending back accounting data to the freeradius server so it looks like the customer is moving no data. This seems to happen most with heavy usage customers.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Try increasing the radius timeout. Default is 300ms.
/radius
print detail
set X timeout=600ms

Check the log on the router. Mine will show a message that the router was not able to update radius. I forget exactly what the message says.
