I’ve been playing with the PPPoE server functionality on the Mikrotik and I’m very impressed. I currently operate a hotspot via a Cisco1200 but I’m planning on adding an additional SSID and connecting this to the PPPoE interface on the Mikrotik.
Everything is working as expected and I’m very happy. My only concern is security. Clients connect to the open wireless network then connect via Layer2 to the PPPoE server to bring up a PPP session.
What is the best way to prevent “rogue” PPPoE servers connecting to my network. For example, I could go ahead and connect another Mikrotik to the same segment and attempt to start serving PPPoE requests?
Can anybody advise?
