PPPoE security

hi i’ve read in mikrotik wiki

“Note: Security issue: do not assign an IP address to the interface you will be receiving the PPPoE requests on.”

does this mean that, if i configured PPPoE server on ether1 then i should not configure a static ip on that interface? as long as i define my local address under ppp profiles which will serve as gateway for my pppoe client? did i understand it correctly?

dont configure static ip so my client won’t be able to connect via static ip on their workstation?

You understood correctly.
Under ppp secrets, or profiles, you’ll assign local and remote address or local address and a pool for remote addresses.

I know it’s against nature but that’s the correct approach.
