I have setup a pppoe server. I am using 4.11 ros. I am able to transfer data from the client when the pppoe profile does not have encryption. But when i set the encryption on the pppoe server profile, i can communicate with the server for just few seconds, may be 2 or 3 seconds. almost all my clients use winxp. The problem is encrypted profile is not working. Is pppoe more secure than hotspot.
Is it better to use ipsec?
And there is another problem with hotspot. I suppose this is due to some hacker. I have read similar topics everywhere. arp poisoning and hotspot bypassing using arp attacks. I see lot of ip address conflicts always on the network. Attacker is trying to access the hotspot by changing ip numbers. He is even trying to assing the ip number of gateway to his mac address. And also he is trying to spoof the mac address.
I have set one ip address per mac in the hotspot, which is resulting in frequent disconnects. I looked at the log, which states user disconnected for having more than 1 ip number.
Any suggestions to secure hotspot or change the delivery method may be pppoe or ipsec?. Please please please do reply.
