We have 6 CCR’s in a PPPOE server cluster,
What we have always done is just have a number of PPOE servers and they generally automatically load balance, I had also previously set “Max Sessions” to 500 on each CCR to prevent one getting too many connections.
However recently we have moved to a complex set of Vlans and thus, each ‘antenna’ on our towers has its own PPPOE server now.
To keep the redundancy and load balance all our CCR;s run basically the same config.
The problem I have now is sometimes 800 people will pppoe into one LNS and 50 to another… this is a big issue at times due to the rate limiting queues causing issues.
What I want to know is there an option (like with licence level’s) to set a ‘router maximum’ pppoe sessions limit..
Ie, same as what you do with the lower level licences.
This way I can set each router to 500 max pope connections and never have a load issue.
