Hi,
I’ve been using PPPoE with simple queues for years, but I have a limited WAN bandwidth and when the link fills up, the simple queue rate limiting seems to get out of whack. I see now there is a parent queue option and it looks like if I set up a parent queue I can set the max bandwidth available and the router will manage the simple PPPoE queues more effectively.
However, I can’t find much information about specific settings for the parent queue. Here are my questions:
- Should it be a simple queue? (I assume so).
- What is used for the target and dst fields if I want to manage all my PPPoE queues with this parent? Note, that I’m currently assigning real IP addresses from a pool to my clients, not NAT addresses.
- Should max limit be set to my total available bandwidth up and down? Winbox has pulldown menus for this but my bandwidth isn’t in the list - can I just enter a number?
- What about the advanced and total tabs? Do I need to set anything in these?
Thanks for your help!
Ryan
