Hello,
I have strange problem - with some cisco PPTP servers Mikrotik PPTP client does not work properly:
After successful connection it is disconnected every minute and theres no packet transmitting…
Here is IP of such PPTP server:
85.21.0.21
L: corbina
P: corbina
It is not the case! There is NO packet transmitting at all, something wrong with connection itself, I think this is issue with mikrotik PPTP client.
This issue on Mikrotik PPTP client only shows with some CISCO PPTP servers…but windows vpn client works fine with them!
I request Mikrotik team to see this issue and provide any comments.
Thank you!
My connection to you stays up exactly one (1) minute on the dot.
However when I connect the same Mikrotik PPTP client to another Mikrotik Router, the connect stays up for ages.
To rule out the Mikrotik Router PPTP Server, I connected the same Mikrotik PPTP client to a Draytek 2910 Router and it also stays up indefinitely.
To further rule out the Mikrotik Router PPTP Server, I connected the same Mikrotik PPTP client to a Draytek 3300V Router and it also stays up indefinitely.
I know my tests aren’t exactly exhaustive but everything seems to be pointing to the PPTP Server.
I too have used MikroTik extensivly in a number of PPTP implementations both as server and a client, and have never seen what you are reporting. I agree it sounds like it is a config problem with the Cisco PPTP Server. Check your encryption and compression settings to make sure they match on both sides of the link, and look in the logs of the MikroTik to see if it gives you any more details as to what the reason for the disconnection is.
Well,
This PPTP server works FINE with ANY windows pptp client and linux PPTP client! It does not work only with mikrotik PPTP client thus something wrong with PPTP client from Mikrotik I think.
I hope someone from Mikrotik will post something about this problem.
Also, what about logs on the Cisco when the MikroTik is disconnecting? without this additional information nobody will be able to give you any more ideas or help…
Also, it wouldn’t hurt to post copies of your config and the log entries from both sides.
Yes, I did check all settings. I am not able to access this Cisco because it is on provider side.
As you can see hilton tried the test connection I provided above and had SAME problems with disconnection every minute.
Just try this connection by yourself and I am sure you will have same problem.
Something wrong with Mikrotik client but I cannot understand what.
Hello, I have found a posts of you where you knew how to set a draytek router and a routerboard for creating a pptp connection, I’m trying to create it but I cant make the link because I receive a message saying:
“LCP lowerdown”
“LCP down event in initial state”
“disconnected”
