PPTP Client problems, maybe MikroTik Firmware BUG?

Hello,

I am using MikroTik RB493 as a PPTP client. Every 2-3 weeks just happens that PPTP connection can not be established. Disable/enable of the PPTP connection or interface does not help.

To solve the problem I have to reboot the MikroTik or just copy the PPTP connection and use this new connection with tottaly same values.

I am using firmware version v6.36.6. Routerboard firmware is 3.24

Do you have any idea what can produce this problem and how to solve it?

Regards,

Is there some NAT involved in the path between the systems?

Cuttently I have 3 NAT rules associated with this PPTP interface. Also I tried to disable this rules but PPTP connection can not be established.

It is not about NAT rules for traffic via PPTP, but about NAT routers between your two PPTP endpoints.

I do not understand why after creating a new PPTP connection with totally same settings MikroTik can established the connection.

Maybe something else in my configuration or in MikroTik firmware makes a problem…

That is why I try to pry the information “is there NAT between the endsystems” out of you.
But you do not seem to want to give it…

In my experience, sometimes NAT routers to strange things and when you start a new session they
will start anew and it suddenly works. It may work too when you disable the PPTP client, wait a
couple of minutes, then enable it again.
I have particular bad experience with Draytek NAT routers inbetween such VPN connections.

Hello pe1chl,

there is no NAT between this two VPN connections and in my case disable/enable PPTP connection can not solve the problem.

I have to reboot the router.
