PPTP VPN between routers

I have an RB750GL that is driving me nuts.

I have a RB2011 and set up a PPtP tunnel to the RB750GL and it connects and gets a good IP.

When i try to connect one 750GL to another… I get some odd addresses.

Is this normal?

When I connect to the VPN from the RB2011
I get an IP route of 192.168.98.100 and 192.168.98.111
This works and I can then make a route to the far side subnet.

When I connect to the VPN via a RB750GL
I get an IP route of 192.168.98.100 and 192.168.99.100
This is the wrong settings.

It might have something to do with the profile settings on one end or the other. Check the local and remote settings in the profiles under ppp

Through a lot of trial and error I found out that using a VPN Pool for PPtP works great for client devices. Not so great for client routers.

Made a new profile and secret. Had to mess with both sides for a while to get the routes to come up right. It was working when I went to sleep last night. Time to check in and see if it’s still active.

Good to hear. I do all of my PPP ip assignment on the master/server side. I haven’t had any issues with pools. I set the server local address to a loop back ip

Today’s experiment was using EoIP over PPtP.

I am posting this from the office IP. While sitting at home.
