Hello,
I have subscribed to a dedicated VPN Service from TUVPN.com
My primary motive for subscribing it is because I want to use the VPN IP to open ports and facilitate my servers (using port forwarding) on the internet.
TUVPN provided me their server address, a dedicated IP address, connection protocol (PPTP), and a username/password.
My Mikrotik Version is RouterOS 3.30
Interface 1 - WAN (192.168.252.3)
Interface 2 - LOCAL (many IP blocks to be listed here)
Interface 3 - PPTP-VPN
I added a PPTP Client interface, provided all the details and start connecting. The connection is established, and I got a private IP (10.64.5.XXX) from their DHCP Service. This private IP remains static at all times. Now technically, upon receiving this 10.64.5.XXX IP, if I start any service (lets say the mikrotik WWW page), it should be accessible from the dedicated IP address like http://67.202.71.XXX and I should be also able to ping that IP from anywhere in the world. But the irony is, I can’t do any of them. Neither I can access the Mikrotik WWW page, nor I can ping the dedicated IP. If I use the VPN connection as a default route, I can also browse the internet hiding my identity with the dedicated IP they provided.
One thing is sure, that the service they are providing is dedicated, because when I try to establish a VPN connection using Windows 7 PPTP dialer, I get that same private IP (10.64.5.XXX) and my dedicated IP can be pinged from outside world, perhaps if I run a HTTP service (lets say I open team viewer 6), people from other ISP’s can access my team viewer default HTTP page, and also connect to my PC using the dedicated IP.
Problem is it is not working in Mikrotik, I don’t think there is a problem with Mikrotik, but may be my little head is missing something. If anyone here has the slightest know-how in this type of issues, please help me.
Regards,
Saiful
