Preventing accidental paste

As I wrote: each method has its own pros and cons ... and the later can bite admin in certain conditions. And I don't think any of methods are distinctively better than others. "commit" may be solving the problem of copy-paste ... but doesn't solve problem where pasted config is syntactically correct but drops management connectivity. "safe mode" solves that but introduces the problem of configuring something where (temporary) loss of management connectivity is expected. And "save config" solves the same problem differently ("safe mode" does roll back automatically, "save config" requires device reboot).

It then boils down to what kind of "safe net" one is used to. Because what one is used to has lesser probability of making nasty surprises.

Windows 11, Winbox 4.01, Logitech M185 mouse

My method is simple:
I make a backup first,
then set the system scheduler to reload the just-backed-up configuration after 10 minutes if no one clear the scheduler or unexpectedly the machine is rebooted.
This prevents any form of errors, except for a failed update...

No.......... in that WinBox 4 they added the paste from the middle button???.............
Or is a function of Logitec Gaming Software?.....

Linux user here ... and paste on mouse middle-button click was standard feature in X11 (yes, not even window managers) ever since there were 3-button mice (i.e. 30 years ago). And still works (KDE on X11 ... I don't know about wayland though).
But as soon as the middle button became "overloaded" with scroll wheel this feature became simple annoyance ... hence I considerably "smoothened" my mouse grip not to press middle button while scrolling.

Yes, the most recent versions of Winbox 4 indeed do paste via middle button… I checked that now. I was sort of assuming the OP was using something like PuTTY to access the command line.

It would be better when Winbox4 had the same special case of pasting complete lines and issued a warning showing the buffer before actually pasting it.
