Prioritize traffic from one subnet

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a RB2011, and I have some questions I would like answers to, before I buy one. First, is it possible to prioritize all traffic from one subnet over all other traffic that goes through the router? If so, how is it done? Let’s say I’m going to have it to have 2 dhcp-servers, one for private, and one public where also all wifi is going. On the private we don’t use internet much, but card payment etc is made thorugh there, so it’s important that have the highest priority, however I don’t have any info how it communicates, so I thought it easier to prioritize all traffic from that network. Is this someting that can be done easy? I guess latency is more a factor for fast payments, so thats whats important.

And since I am asking questions, is the RB2011 able to handle say max 200 portable devices that mostly just surf and maybe sometime skypes? This spread across many unifi aps. Right now we have slow internet, which I know it can handle, but say if we upgrade to 100mbit, can it still work ok, with the same qos-settings?

And lastly, we have unifi-aps and a controller on the public side, can one make a computer on the private subnet communicate with the controller without having two network cards in the controller for example? I haven’t used a mikrotik or routeros at all, so I thought it best to ask you, the pros.

Thanks

Ok, I have now a wireless RB2011 here, but cant quite figure out how I prioritize all traffic on one subnet/ethernet-port over the other ports and/or subnets.

I have however figured out pcq for example, which also is something I would want on the public subnet, so I can limit them to not use all. But I still need to make it so that when I use the internet on the private subnet, that traffic gets prioritized, meaning I rather not use bandwidth limiting, since the connection is slow and would be waste to limit the public side since the private isn’t used very often, and when it is, it’s for card payments mostly. So if I can’t use both, making the private prioritized is what mattters. I have some idea how I proably should do it, but I would rather hear your ideas first as I haven’t done this, ever.

And the question about how well it will handle these rules with 200 devices surfing and skyping is something I would love to have some educated guess about atlest. We have 24mbits ADSL now, but will probably get 100mbit fiber soon, and I guess it can’t handle that (?), so probably will buy something better then.

Thanks for any help.
