Prioritizing Packets

We just installed a Bluecoat bandwith managment server here at work and i have to say it works WONDERS!

browsing always gets the most bandwith even when everyone is chocking the line.

can something similar be done with RouterOS?

If so can someone provide me an example please?

Thanks.

of course it can be done. in multiple ways. separate port 80 traffic and give it a certain speed limit, then the rest of the traffic will never disturb it. you can even give priorities to traffic etc.

normis: would you help me with an example or something i can use?

:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

just create a simple queue with one limit for port 80, and one for the other traffic! it’s all in the manual.

is it the same if we use Q tree to make PCQ eith priorities to HTTP ?
and what if we r using web-proxy ? what about the packets go out from the proxy and its port ? someone in this forum said before that : YOU CANT Q PROXY PACKETS !!!

normis,

I went into queue simple and there is nothing where to put port 80 when creating the simple queue. Can you explain where to do this?

Create appropriate mangle rules for two types of data, 80 port and other traffic. Use ‘packet-marks’ option in ‘simple queue’.
