prioritizing simple queues

Hi

Suppose, I have 100 Mbps upstream bandwidth and I have 200 customers and I have simply 200 queues for 200 customers (no parent queue with 200Mbps limit). Can I prioritize a particular queue or a group of queue to ensure they are served first?

Pretty sure you will have to use Queue Trees to set a priority order.

thank u for the reply. thats a good one to work with.Meanwhile i have tested with simple queue and it works in simple queue too, although i used parent child concept in simple queue.

i have made a parent queue with 30Mbps Bandwidth and made few child queues with one having 8Mbps bandwidth and the others with 4Mbps. i called the parent queue as the parent of all these child and i set the child queue with high priority 1 and left the other queues’ priority as default 8. now whenever there is congestion or the parent queue bandwidth is hitting 30Mbps, the queue with highest priority gets the full 8Mbps bandwidth and the rests are negotiating and sometimes not getting the cir.

Its working fine, i didnt need to mangle.
