If you have a network that is mostly Atheros based is it possible that the majority of my high ACK and dropping Pthroughput is due to a couple of pesky PRISM cards that are still on my network?
Just a thought.

more details please
A connected radio we will call CPE1 that has an Atheros with a 34 SNR -64 Signal Strength with a pthroughput of a 23000 + it is connected via B/G.
Another of our CPE we will call CPE2 has about equal connection strengths as the CPE1 but is a PRISM card. Once it starts to pull around 1Mb of traffic all other connections like CPE1’s pthoughput drops to bits and may even reconnect.
We are running 4.6 ROS on the AP that is a 532AP and all clients are also 3.30 ROS but they are from 112 to 411Rbs. CPE2 is x86 with the PCMCIA slot PRISM card the same kind from Senao CB3s.
Question is: Have other people experinced problems with Atheros and Prism mixed environments?
We have not upgraded to 4.6 due to fear of any problems, we see 3.30 as a really good end of line for the 3.30 ROS. I have 4.6 on our 5GHz networks but I have been hesitant on doing it for the 2.4GHz network clients.
A side note we do have a couple rogue CPEs trying to connect to us with MAC address of all 0s like 00:00:00:00:00:00 which also cause problems. A quick way to remedy those rogue connection tries would be to hide the SSID but… If we hide the SSID the Prism card does not stay connected and will not reconnect. A weird bug we had discovered with that type of Prism PCMCIA card. Any clues?
Any experience or suggestions please post I would love to hear anything this is quite frustrating.

is the prism b only mode ? if itdoes it make sense. the throughtput will down to 5~6 Mbps
Well the CPE2 (the prism) is set to b only mode and the AP is set to B/G mode and CPE1(the atheros) is set to b/g mode.
One more thing is that we are using ANI for the rest of the connections. I know that ANI does not work with prism cards but it seems to help everyone else. If I disable ANI then I get a lot more problems. I know the solution is to upgrade the hardware and remove the prism but… I just wanted to be for sure because it is an odd location on this one building. It would be easier if there was some setting on 4.6 that would allow the prism card to connect better. It would also help if other people also had a similar experience and just told me that they experienced the same thing until they swapped out.
Any thing else you notice or would advise would be great. Thanks
