Private/Custom MIBs

Please help, I can’t figure out how to load private MIB files. I’ve been through the documentation, tried loading the files through the MIB Node|File|Add option, restarting Dude, manually placing the MIB file in the Data Folder, trying both as *.MIB and *.TXT. Nothing seems to get Dude to recognize the new Node or the objects. I tried searching the forum (but didn’t go back to the beginning of time) and found discussions on private MIBs but not how to load/compile/whatever.

I’m sure I’m missing some simple action or step to accomplish this.

TIA, RJ

Loading the files through ‘MIB Nodes’, ‘File’ and add is correct.

Some MIB’s are dependent upon other MIB’s. Are you sure you you’ve loaded all the necessary MIB’s?

Thanks for the info. I checked for the standard MIB dependencies, but I’ll check it again.

The MIB Node/File/Add will add the file to the Files list, but it doesn’t show up in the Modules list, even after restarting Dude. Shouldn’t I see the new MIB in the Modules list?

I should have mentioned this earlier, I was using 2.0beta10 when I sent the email, I’ve now installed 2.2. But getting same behavior.

Thanks, RJ

Seem to have it working now! Went to Dude 3.0b4, deleted the various files that I had been trying, and then loaded a couple of MIB files one at a time. The MIBs are now in the Tree.

One of the MIB files I had unsuccessfully tried was from the manufacturer with multiple standard and private MIBs all combined into one file. Does anyone know if using multiple MIB files combined into one file is supported in Dude? Or perhaps it’s not and that was the cause of my problem?

Thanks, RJ
