I have bought a new Mikrotik hAP ax^3, model: C53UiG+5HPaxD2HPaxD (WIFI6) and I want to use old hAP AC^3, model RBD53iG-5HacD2HnD (WIFI5) for bridge with CAP mode.
Is it possible to do that? Or there is any incompatibility with models? Both updated to RouteOS 7.21.1.
Because I have hAP AC^3 with old some legacy setting with WIFI:
AC3 can be upgraded to wifi-qcom-ac drivers which means you can then use the SAME capsman environment (under menu wifi) for both devices.
Only drawback: if you use VLAN, setup becomes a bit more complicated on AC3 (but not impossible).
Personally: I would always upgrade AC3 to those new drivers. Makes a HUGE difference, really.
And AC3 has plenty of storage so you will not run into problems which most other ARM-AC devices have related to storage-limits (like AC2, cap AC, wap AC, ...).
But unfortunately, hAP AC^3 RBD53iG-5HacD2HnD starts crashing (random restart) with kernel failure in previous boot and automatic supout.rif due to service malfuction
I had no problem with hAP AC^3. All problems started with I updated to up-to-date RouteOS 7.x.x (I had previous 6.x.x with old design) + with package wifi-qcom-ac + bridge mod with CAP.
(no extra traffic… no many devices)
I opened ticket in Mikrotik support ticket system. But it doesn’t sound good.
