i have a problem in connecting 411 and 3750 l3 switch, i am trying establish P2P using 411 board for a distance 5kms, when i connect 411 board to cisco switch the port does not responds, it goes from from green indicator to amber.i tried setting the negotiation mode to auto then also its not responding . what could be the problem?
I hope you do not have 5km cable between Cisco and RB411.
Default Ethernet configuration on both sides are enough to get link working.
Try to put “cheap” switch between Cisco and MikroTik router. Does it work fine?
This sometimes happens with my c3750 switches.
Hardcode either the mikrotik port or the cisco port to 100mbps full-duplex.
tried but the problem persists
Cisco gear doesn’t always auto-negotiate well, particularly with non-Cisco gear so make sure you manually set the port and duplex on it. In a perfect world it would work all the time but even in their own training classes Cisco gear will tell you it’s considered a best practice to manually set speeds and duplex unless it’s a port you expect different gear to be plugged into regularly.
You never clarified how long the cable is connecting the two. Ethernet is only rated for about 100m and that’s a best case number with shielded cable. Non-shielded cable and/or EM noise sources that it can pick up will shorten the usable distance.
tried but the problem persists
Which end does not negotiate communication with the switch (Cisco/MikroTik)?
