I purchased a brand new dell poweredge R210 server. When i’m trying to install Mikrotik IOS v5.17 its showing an error like no hard drives found. But i’m able to see the hard drives in BIOS setting. So please help me in installing the IOS successfully.

“IOS” is Cisco’s router software. You should say “ROS” for Mikrotik.
This is probably a bug. According to this post http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/i-can-t-install-the-ros-on-dell-poweredge-r610/55328/1 that person cannot use anything higher than 5.11

It was I whose post you linked here about the r210 .
There are 2 issues.
1, Probably there are SATA controller issues. Mine has
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset 6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 05)
and it is not recognised by ROS, so I’m running it from inside a KVM virtual machine. There is probably a bit of a performance hit, but it is single digit %.
2, I have an i3 540 CPU and a few of the 5.1x ROS versions did not work on this CPU. This was around the P4 bug reported in the changelog. This problem was never acknowledged, but after I reported it, the next version (5.15) worked.
So all in all I suggest running ROS 5.15 or higher on this hardware inside a KVM or XEN VM.
