Problem installing MikroTik 5.22 on Dell PowerEdge R210 II

Heloo,

I am trying to install MikroTik 5.22 on brand new Dell PowerEdge R210 II. The problem is that MikroTik does not recognize the HDD. The setting in bios is AHCI mode, there is no option to change it to SATA, ATA etc. Is there solution to my problem, or any advice that could help me.

Can you describe that part of the BIOS settings? I thought I had configured one of those to ATA mode.

Thank you for your replay. There is “SATA Settings”. Inside there is “Embedded SATA”(my mistake on the first post, later i found there is ATA and RAID settings), but still I cant install MiktoTik 5.22. MikroTik cannot find the HDD.

Just to update the topic, I tried with demo version of MikroTik 5.6 and 5.11 and still no luck. Now I am planning to remove one hdd put on a desktop machine, install RouterOS and then return back to R210 II.

Send email to support see if controller is supported with detail description of ur PC
U can try installing on USB - if BIOS support boot from USB

I wrote install on USB not from USB

Sorry my mistake. Well I will wrote an email to support, and tomorrow I will remove one hdd and install MikroTik on desktop PC, then I will put it back in server(hopefully it will work). But I will not have raid this way…I am out of options

I was getting similar problems you could change HDD setting from AHCI to IDE and check again if it works for you. I was able to solve my problem like that

Unfortunately there is no IDE settings in Dell PowerEdge R210 II. There is AHCI, ATA and RAID.

As far as I know there is no RAID support in RouterOS.

The name you are looking for your SATA Setting is “ATA”, which you indicated your Dell R210ii has.

if you absolutely need a RAID setup there is an overkill but effective solution:

  • you can install RouterOS inside an VMWare ESXi hypervisor, which can be installed (and monitor) in RAID environments.
