Problem Upgrading Expired License

I discovered an old ROS version, 2.8rc2, on one of our APs and could not upgrade due to it being expired. I purchased a new license; but the router reboots when I paste the new key in. The old key was 10 digits, significantly shorter than the new one. Any ideas?
