problem with 5 ghz

Hi to all,

I have two RB433 with two radios. One radio is 2.4 ghz and it is working just fine. Another one is 5.4 setup as WPA2. On one RB as ap-bridge and on another one as station (I’m trying to bridge two networks) Antennas for 5 ghz is omnidirectional 5 db. The distance is just my working space 5 meters.
I put one RB in one corner of the room and another one in another corner of the room. I have no connection. If I put them close I have connection. Is this normal or something is wrong with my radio cards (R52HN). In my opinion 5 db antenna should be just fine for that distance. I’m trying to test before I put in place. I’m planing to replace omni antennas with panel 23 db (distance is around 2 km).

Please advice or share your experience etc.

Thanks,

P.S. How to test is R52Hn is still good?

Do you mean when you replace the 5GHz radios in both your RB433’s with 2.4 radios all is fine? If so, what are your signal levels with your setup and what antennas are you using at 2.4?

Also when your 5GHz radios do connect, what are the signal levels? Also what is the noise floor?

Other thoughts, are you sure your antennas are rated for 5GHz? Try station pseudo-bridge.

Do you have the pigtail attached to the correct connector? The active connector by default is the center (inner) connector, not the one on the edge (outer).

I do you have the pigtail attached to the one on the edge. I’ll change that. Thanks,

I will also try station pseudo-bridge. Thanks,
