I have time warner as my isp. When I connect directly into the modem I can use the time warner dns servers with no problem. When I connect the modem to the mikrotik, websites load slow, and sometimes don’t load all the way, and sometimes it even looks like my internet is out. If, however, I change my dns servers to google, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, everything is fine and speedy with no problems.
Does anyone know why this could be?
Also, what is the correct way to use google servers?
What I did is uncheck use peer dns, and set googles servers in the dns settings under dns.
In the dhcp settings I set the network to use the router as the dns.
I tried all types of router configurations, even the default, and nothing helped. Maybe it’s something in the router build? I am on 5.26. I don’t want to change right now until a 6.x version is rock solid.
Google servers work fine, it’s just weird that time warner’s don’t.
