I am having trouble downloading data via FTP from any remote server. My Speedtest shows 800 Mbps, but my FTP download speed never exceeds 5 MB/s.

Well i was wondering if someone has had any similar problems. My MikroTik is a hAP ax3, and it is behind my ISP's router. FTP traffic is permitted, and NAT is set to masquerade.
I read that FastTrack could be the problem, but I disabled it, and it's still not working correctly. I decided to run a packet capture with Wireshark and noticed that some FTP packets are being dropped and require retransmission.
Any suggestions on where to look next would be hugely appreciated!

AX3 is a pretty decent device. I would be surprised it is the reason for what you see.
Unless you really deviate from standard config ? In that case we might have to see it.
You mention 800Mbps download. What is upload like ?
If there is a big asymmetry (much higher download then upload), it could already be a possible reason.
FTP can be quite slower then normal speed test.
Are you testing versus the same server ? Same region ? Same routes being used ?
What server you use for testing speedtest against ?
Which one for testing FTP ?
Do you see tools/profile showing 100% CPU on 1 of the cores usage during that download ? If not, your router is not the bottle neck.
Did you also try parallel FTP connections when downloading ? (something like Filezilla can do that easily)
It is also still an option your ISP is throttling FTP traffic.
hahahaha sorry for the first message, im getting used to the forum. My config is pretty similar to the standard config, just added some rules and wireguard vpn. The upload is mostly the same as the bandwidth is simetric.
It happens with every ftp server ive tried, i usually use some aws ftp servers and it gives me problems but i also tried with other ftp servers and the speed is the same(it never passes the 5MB). I also considered the CPU issue before but it never goes over 10% on any core. Could MTU or mikrotik queues be causing the problem?
What is the average speed over a WireGuard (WG) VPN?
Also, is there a way to check FTP traffic via VPN?
Doing this will eliminate the ISP's influence, making it clear whether the issue is with the provider or the router.
