Problem With heavy download user

Hi, recently i change my AP to mikrotik to serve my client. I tried to add 2 clients (at first) to my mikrotik and they work fine, the ping is <10ms. When i tried to add another client who is a heavy downloader (100kbps persecond). The ping of my client suddenly become very high (200-300ms). My client is using linksys wrt54g on client and their connection is very good (-76, -61,-80). The total traffic is 50-100kbps. I am using bridge on eth1 and wlan1. What is the problem?

I found a weird thing on my mikrotik, when i use torch, i could only see the heavy download client trafic but the trafic of the other client, i could not see it. What is the main cause?

set higher supported rates for large data, help with pings

e.g.
1.5mbps up/down simultaneously required 9mbps link (5ghz) in my case

Just check do users on the same AP do traffic between each other. If yes, you can’t see that traffic cause it’s staying on Layer 2 (802.11 problem) and it never goes through router. So, you have big latency thinking that traffic is low, but it’s not

Cheers…

Hi, i just check for a few days on my AP, i found that the problem is not because of the traffic and there’re no traffic passing by from client to client, it’s because signal interference on area. I used omni 15dbi antenna on my mikrotik, i think it’s the main cause for this problem, because it gains too much noise.

Some interesting things i am curious and i wish to share it with other mikrotik users. I use scan and snooper on my mikrotik to know the freq usage in my area, i found out that channel 7-10 there’s no AP operating, so i tried to change my AP to any of that channel, when i change to that channel, all my clients couldn’t associate with my AP, but when i change it back to channel 1 (very heavy interfere channel with 5 AP operating on this channel), all my client could easily get back to that AP and the ping is <10ms. What cause this? Why the heavy interfere channel is better than quiet channel?

Another weird problem i wish to share is the interference in my area start from 10 am to 11 pm. In that time, the ping of my client to AP would goes up very high, 100-500 ms and there’re many timeout. But on the morning and late night, the ping is very good (2-10ms). I could sure that all the AP on my area are working 24 hours because they are all WISP so i don’t think it’s because interference from other AP. IS there any device that could cause this heavy interference?
