Problem with Laptops using Intel wireless adapter 3945 abg

Hi All
We are using MikroTik on our routers, but we have a problem with laptops witch use the wireless network adapter “Intel pro/wireless 3945 ABG”
Those laptops CAN NOT see the WLan so they can’t join it.
Other marques of adapters work wonderfully.
is the miKrotik OS incompatible with those adapters??
there is any solution?
Thx

Try a search on forum…

If there are new Intel PCI Express wireless cards, you need to set ‘proprietary-extensions=post-2.9.25’ accordingly used version should be newer than 2.9.24, then Intel client sohuld connect without any problem.

More Informations:
We are using MikroTik V2.9.14

New laptops Centrino using Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 abg can not see the WLan.
Is it a bug in this version (2.9.14) ?
Should we update our OS??
Thx

You need to update to at least 2.9.25.

sergejs, does this Intel problem (I blame them, not Mikrotik for this stupid “feature”) exist on Mikrotik versions 2.8 ?

yelkoury, Did you ever resolve this? I have the exact same problem?

thank you

yelkoury, Did you ever resolve this? I have the exact same problem?

You must update to 2.9.25 or greater, and turn on “post-2.9.25” extensions in the interface configuration, to resolve the problem.

jarosoup,
unfortunately Intel wireless client will not be able to connect to 2.8 AP.
Access-poing must run 2.9.25 at least and proprietary-extensions set to post.
yelkoury, not it is not RouterOS issue, if you want to maintain these client, you must upgrade.
Anyway there were a lot of changes and improvements since your current 2.9.14 release, the newest release must work more stable.

Guys - RouterOS is OK, it’s Intel driver on Windows that creates problems…
I have the same problem of course and it happens to be only in Windows. Ubuntu running on the same laptop picks up my MikroTik withouth problems and works like a charm.

I can’t really find any ‘working’ windows driver… On MikroTik I use Atheros minipci card and Lenovo x60s with ipw3945

2 solutions I would suggest:

  • upgrade ROS as described above
  • switch to Linux
