Problem with Multiple Hotspots with Bridged connections

I re-created this post as i had no feed back on the other section

I am pretty desperate for an solution ( i used to use Antemedia hotspot to bill for my BYOC’s ) but now moved over to mikrotik gear as its been proving way more stable downside being its to advanced for me :stuck_out_tongue:

willing to pay for working solution if their is one …

i could export settings but more then welcome to let someone tinker when no ones in the cafe
been slowly getting things going over the last 3 mnths but hopsots keep giving the nastly red I as soon as i enable the bridge

I have an internet gaming cafe

I have rentable cafe pc’s
and
BYOC PC’s

what we are trying to do is have 1 hotspot for my cafe pc’s with only data being charged for

and another hotspot for BYOC with data and time being charged for

I allso need these bridged together so every one can play games together

the main catch 22 is that we are using VPN bridging multiple cafe’s together

as soon as we activate the bridge linking cafe and byoc’s the hot spot dies

the current setup is another system managing my internet load balencing ( one day I will build another system that will manage the internet load balancing as well )

rb133

interface
cafe-to-truerank-eoip (bridge)
dial-into-truerank (pptp client )
eoip-gun.qld-to-truerank (eoip tunnel)

ether1_ROUTER
( internet IN pluged into my vigour 3300v for load balancing )
ether2_CAFE
( need data only billed hotspot )
ether3_BYOC
( need to bill for time and data )

all connections need to acess VPN
and ether2_CAFE / ether3_BYOC need to be bridged locally

currently
eoip-gun.qld-to-truerank
ether2_CAFE
ether3_BYOC

are added to the cafe-to-truerank-eoip bridge

we have seperate DHCP for
ether2_CAFE 10.0.4.*
and
ether3_BYOC 10.0.69.*

Unfortunaly as soon as either ether2 /3 are added to a bridge I get the horrid red I :S

Well I’d be willing to take a stab at it once I have a better look at your system. I see a few issues to start with though if you want to continue on yourself -

You have DHCP on two interfaces and then you bridge the interfaces…usually not a good way to do things…DHCP is trying to hand out addresses on both interfaces or will just error out.

Since you own the PCs on one side 10.0.4.x - why don’t you just assign them static IPs? Then you could bridge eth2 & 3 with only ONE DHCP server for the BYOC (10.0.69.x)

Make a seperate bridge for eth2 & 3. Do not add it to your other bridge. Then use masq to masquerade the Hotspot connections out to your VPN/PPtP/EoIP.

There are a few differences in ROS 2.9.x and ROS 3.x - which are you using? And you say you are doing all of this on an RB133c?

I tried removing DHCP from Cafe side ( it does show promise ) but unsure how to separate the Bridge while still keeping them Bridged the way we want it

We need BYOC / CAFE PC’s linked/Bridged Directly Via GIG LAN ( in hopefully near future )

Then we allso Need BYOC / Cafe PC’s connected to an VPN ( with options to allow / disallow access to VPN )
ie During Tournaments no BYOC are allowed on the VPN but still allowed on the CAFE network

bump

Still in need of solution

I have since rebuilt an x86 system ( sitting here 2 weeks unused as I am stuck :stuck_out_tongue: )
and i need this ASAP as the rb 133 just can not handle the cafe pc’s load :S

currently 1x nic ADSL 1x nic LAN

when solution is found i would like to

2x nics Bridged to ADSL modem

3 x nic’s LAN

1 NIC workshop ( needs DHCP ( break and fix room no hotspot / billing)
1 Nic BYOC ( needs DHCP bill per hr and data ) ( will also piggyback wireless on this connection )
1 Nic Cafe PC’s ( DHCP not needed Bill for data )

I need all pc’s to see each other
