Problem with speed limitations

Hello.

I’ve bought Mikrotik CRS112-8G-4S router recently and tried to configure it next way for my home network.

Internet provider (1Gbit connection, DHCP) ↔ Mikrotik router ↔ Local network (1Gbit connections, DHCP)

Everything works fine, I’ve managed to configure it using “Quick Set”. But the problem is that despite the fact I have 1Gbit network and 1Gbit Internet connection the speed at LAN endpoints is ~30Mbit for both upload and download. I use speedtest.net and other similar services to check this. The same speed I get when laptop is plugged directly into router or when I try to measure it using other devices connected to LAN.

But the get ~1GBit speed if Internet cable is plugged directly into my laptop, so the problem is that router limits the speed for endpoints somehow.

I’ve tried to configure it as described in next tutorial: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Queues_-_PCQ_Examples
The same actions were done using WinBox and values were changed to 1Gbit (also tried other smaller values), but speed descresed to ~10-15Mbits.

Could you advice what could be the problem?

I would suggest that you look at the perfomance test results for this device:

This is not a fast router, it is mainly a switch, so you don’t really have the right device for a 1Gig internet feed.

Thanks for the link.

But these test results are much better than ~30 Mbits that I have out-of-the-box.
Is it possible that there are some settings that may improve the speed?

Adding Fasttrack rules like described here: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Fasttrack

Download = ~100 Mbits
Upload = ~290 Mbits

Looks like tuning is possible…
