I have a Ap with Athores 5213 (CM9) mini pci at desktop pc with Mirotik 2.9.50 (level-4) and
1 watt Hyperlink bi directional Amp with 15 dbi Hyperlink Omni Antenna running in 2.4 GHz with B/G mode.
my problem is, MT is not supplying/generating DHCP ip to my wireless customers. Though the setup was woking last with same signal strength at client end. Signal strength is still good at client side.
I think you may have a little too much transmitter power on your AP. The wireless conversation between the AP and the client is two way. It does no good to shout on one end if the other end is whispering. Your client is receiving the AP, but it appears the AP is not receiving your client.
In the US, that AP/antenna setup would be illegal, even if the antenna was directional and it was point-to-point only. That is 30db on the transmitter and 12db on the antenna. Even deducting the 6db antenna “freebie”, you would be 6db over. You would need a couple hundred feet of LM400 to be legal. And that would make things worse.
I would suggest turning down the power a little, but I know the Hyperlink amps are fixed gain.
just like surftim said this amp will make thing worse ,I ve passed on alot of clients who were using this hyperlink amp ,it gave them excellent signal while there wireless bandwidth suffered, after throwing this amp their life became easier,just take it off and increase your signal on base station with antennas instead like a sectorized scenario.
Yes, if the problem exists starting at a specific distance from the AP. The amplifier allows your AP to transmit much farther than your clients are capable of transmitting. When you do a “site search” or “search for wireless networks” on a client network card, your wireless card is not transmitting. It is only listening for beacons. So you can receive a beacon from a powerful AP transmitter a long way away. But when your client card tries to transmit to the AP that it needs an IP address, the client signal is not nearly as strong as the AP signal, so the AP never receives the request for an IP.
If your clients can’t get one close to the AP, then you may have other problems too.
Those amps are really meant to be used as a pair in a bridge setup, where you have one on each end. That way both ends transmit the same high power, so the transmitter distance is compatible and they can receive each other.
