Problems RB751G-2HnD Wireless Clients

Hello people, I just purchased one of these for my Dad for a simple home router.
I enabled the Wireless as AP Bridge and tried to connect a Laptop Wireless to it.
The Laptop cannot connect, it keeps trying but fails. If I look in Winbox under the registration list it show the laptop connected but the Tx/Rx is always 1Mbps/50Mps~200Mbps. The culprit seems to be the Tx, it never get any higher than 1Mbps.

The laptop is situated in the same room as the router, the Tx/Rx Signal in the registration list only shows -39, also the laptop shows only 1 bar strength to the router. I thought that maybe the router was set to the wrong antenna so I checked that and it is set to antenna (a) which from what I read is the internal one and (b) is the MCX connector.

Any ideas what is wrong here?

Thanks
Ray

Do you have the wireless interface in your lan bridge or addressing and DHCP server on the interface?

Deleted because not related.

Problem solved, I reset the whole configuration and the wireless now works.

I think the problem started the moment I powered it on for the first time, I had made a backup configuration from another similar router and I implemented it into the new one before upgrading the RouterOS, when It restarted it gave me a vague error but I dismissed it as nothing important. Should not have done that, I upgraded the RouterOS, then did a reset, then I restored the config from the other router and now everything works fine.

And as other who have stated that the unit is in AP mode and should be hooked up to a router, I beg to differ, the unit still acts as a router along side with the WLAN enabled, so I do not understand your point, it’s still a router none the less.

Thanks for all the replies and the help.
Cheers

Enable both chains, set power mode to card rates, set tx power to 18dBm
