Ok. Thom helped me setup most of my network so if he was to catch this he would probibly know what to do the quickest. But this is for anybody that can help me lol. Here is my network setup and my issues
I have Backhaul #1 with ether1 Ip of 192.168.0.3 wlan1 ip address of 10.0.0.1 <----------------AIR----------------> wlan2 (backhaul receive interface) ip address of wlan2 is 10.0.0.2. wlan1 Ap-bridge 1st AP. Ip address of wlan1 is 192.168.10.1 . That is the ip setup of my backhaul and my first AP. Now im taking online another AP. AP 2. This AP has a cm9 for a backhaul. I am trying to set that IP to 192.168.10.4 That is backhaul, now my 2.4ghz Ap-bride interface is 192.168.10.2 and the 900mhz Ap-bridge of 192.168.10.3. That takes care of ip address and all of them have the /24 subnet. Now i go to routing. set the rule then go to routes. set in routes get some as DAC. A pain in the ass considering i have to AP in the 192.168.10.X domain. Im really kinda confused how to set this up. I have tried everythign and it WILL NOT forward traffic through the backhaul to my AP. I have disabled the 900mhz AP just for not dealing with more routes.. I would give you an printout of the routes on the AP 2 but i do not have access where I am right now. Please advise what mite be going wrong. Routing is not working properly. And yes I would like to keep the default gateway of 192.168.10.1 which is the ip nated/masqueraded gateway of AP 1. Please help if you dare lol. -Jordan
Check your subnet. If I get in a hurry, I’ll put in the IP, like 192.168.10.4 rather than 192.168.10.4/24.
ROS doesn’t like that.
Every time I get in a hurry, something doesn’t work, and I’ll find that I’ve done that.
I hope I understand your setup. I don’t think you can have two interfaces with the same subnet. Looks like you have 192.168.10.0/24 assigned to wlan1 and wlan2. I would recommend using another subnet on the cm9, or figure out how to bridge those two wlan interfaces. Not my specialty.
If you are looking for galaxynet, he has been around. Saw him on this morning. He helped me with my net too. He is the man with natted nets.
I disabled one of the interfaces the wlan2 900mhz interface just to get the routing from Backhaul to wlan1. The default gateway is without the subnet. Tried it with and without still no go. Havent had a chance to play with it lately but I will this friday/thursday. I will also try to get a dump of the configuration I have rather than just off the mind information. It will allow you guys to see better. So I will post that As soon as I can. But I made the settings as close to AP1 as i could and AP1 is working splended. I just dont understand why it will not forward traffic. ON AP2 I do not need to set a Nat/Maquerade do I because i am using the default gateway of AP1? -Jordan
my email is j g w a l d r o p at hotmail dot com
shoot me an email.
K I will shoot you an e-mail + keep up here on the fourms so others can learn if we get this figured out or if Thom shows up ![]()
Cool!
Sent you an e-mail glen did ya get it already ![]()
when you change address you have added you will notice, that if you add ip like 192.168.0.1/32 (or simply 192.168.0.1 and set interface and press ok) what are your network address and netmask etc. when you add 192.168.0.1/24, now, check ip address you have edited, did all the fields changed?
also as noted before - you do not want to add 2 ip addresses from same ip subnet on 2 different ip addresses. as result if you do that your routing will not work 100%
Yes janisK when i make an IP address for a certain Ip address i alwasy specify the subnet for my current setup it is /24 I will probibly make the other AP /23 or something. and also add a rout of 192.168.10.0/23 with the already added 192.168.10.0/24 A Dump of the config is coming, i just have to get on to the AP to get them (set them back up first because im bridging it Temp) Will post later. Also getting help from Glen. -Jordan
Hey Silo Man-I’d be glad to help you out in case Thom is tied up. He’s my patron saint.
Just send me the string of IPs/interfaces from AP1 out to the CPE at the end.
You’re initial post is confusing.

Well thanks gunzoide I appreciate the help. but actually glen and thom gave me a helping hand with the AP’S I got them going now and routed. Not without alot of head scratching though. Now im setting up CPE’s ON the AP and having issues. Its like every time I try and route i have issues everything is setup the way it should be and still does not work. (But atleast with the AP we had it all right and we just restarted it then it worked lol) Tried with the CPE didnt work. So IM going to do what thom said to do Install the user bridge the connection set up the dhcp client/server and configure it remotly when we have time. I will dump my AP/CPE configuration when i get them setup so we can all see and maybe you can give a helping hand on the best way to get them routed. Thanks -Jordan
