Problems with D-Link DFE-580TX 4x Ethernet 10/100

Hi, I have problems with this card. When I start router, everything works. After cca 1 hour one of the ethernet port (random) stops communicating. The solution is disabling and enabling ethernet port. After this all working fine to the next reboot. Did anybody had this problem?

this card is defective by default, even the manufacturer admitted it and pulled from production. consider using something else please

I’ve a router using this card now for over a year with no problems, I only use 3 ports at the moment though…

any body got a line on dual nic cards ?

we use 2 of them (2x 4port) without any problem (all ports in use).
But there are issues in production quality. We needed 4 cards to get 2 working probably. This is a known issue that a high percentage dies of these cards within the first year. If you use it (we do and its a nice card), just keep one in spare for production use.

normis, the card is still in the markt. Not too many options anyway (happy to take your cards, IF you get it thru our customs…)

the 580 had problems with using all ports (IMHO). roland, have you contacted our sales about custom problems?

normis, just ordered several wifi kits from Janis for our Samui project (will see how customs will work here…). But its a bit off-topic.
Our experience says, that 30% of 580-production is not good. Having a replacment standby for each card in production use is not cost effective, I know. Unfortunately, not much choice in the market.
I saw the Routerboard500xx, especially the daughter board. This is good as soon as available… (We just need 8-10 NIC at least).

Btw, we also have a complet PC-MT Level5 in cold-standby… CF-card could also die and transfering a router config simply doen’t work with the naming/numbeing of the NICs.

RB500 is already available, daughterboard is coming soon
