Problems with EoIP

Ok so I had an EoIP tunnel up and working everything seemed fine, then started having problems with accessing winbox on the remote end of the tunnel.. SSH worked, but winbox didn’t. Then a few hours later everything stopped working and the MU had to be physically power cycled in order to manage the device. I setup a basic EoIP interface added to the bridge, wlan interface was not part of any bridge with a 10.100.50.1/30 ip address, remote end was 10.100.50.2/30 same tunnel ID’s and everything..

I finally gave up on the EoIP tunnel and switched over to WDS bridge…

The problem may have been an MTU setting, but I’m not sure at this point, and can’t play around with different settings as this is in a production environment.. but has anyone else expierenced problems with EoIP tunnels as described above? Is it recommended to lower the MTU to make room for the EoIP overhead?

(RouterOS Version 2.9.5 on both ends)

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill

I use EoIP to bridge PPPoE between a 2.8.27 & 2.9.0 with MTU set 1500. Works well and has 2 wireless hops in between.
